Interdisciplinary workshop: ‘Michel Houellebecq, athéisme et foi’ – 14/10/2015, Le Mans

This workshop is the first day of the interdisciplinary research cycle ‘Michel Houellebecq ou misère de l’homme sans Dieu ?’ (Michel Houellebecq or the misery of mankind without God?), organized by the IPRA with the support of the 3LAM laboratory (Université du Maine-Le Mans). It will take place on the Wednesday, Octobre 14, 2015, at the Université du Maine.

The work of Michel Houellebecq is best known for describing, with depressing acuity, the economic and social relationships and the daily life of the modern male. The place of religion in his books has not been yet emphasized, although the controversial Soumission demonstrates that religion is at the core of his work. This relationship to religion and its political implications will be scrutinized during this workshop.
