Minorité et communauté en religion (Minority and community in religion
Almost every day, there is a crisis in relation to religions, especially minority convictions or demands. The demands and habits originating from the different minorities or communities are not one-sided: their meaning varies according to the time period and the changes inherent to our society make them even more difficult to apprehend.
This book analyses both notions and their symbolic and social implications. It gathers contributions from specialists who bring to the discussion a wide diversity in term of discipline. Some describe the ways in which minority groups have been able to make and question History. Others question the choices of terminology, in the law, the social and the political sciences, unveiling the ideological issues at stake. Others analyse the contemporary manifestations of these notions, in France or elsewhere, as well as the French reluctance to think about communitarianism.
In a time when religious pluralism questions governance, with political and social debates on the question of integration and laïcité in the background, this volume contributes to the comprehension of the geopolitical and religious reconfigurations of our world.
